Chapter 2 — Graphing Radical Functions
In this chapter, students explore how functions can be changed or “transformed” in different ways. We cover shifting graphs horizontally and vertically through translations, flipping graphs over the x- or y-axis with reflections, and stretching or compressing graphs with expansions and compressions. Students also work with special transformations, including reciprocal and absolute value functions. A key focus is learning how to combine multiple transformations and understanding how the order of transformations can affect the final graph. By the end of the chapter, students will be confident in manipulating and predicting the effects of various transformations on a wide range of functions.
