When expanding a binomial in the form of (x+y)n, we can use Pascal’striangle to determine the coefficient of each term
Use the exponent “n” to determine which row in Pascal’s triangleto use for the coefficients
The first term must have a power of xn, with the “x” variabledescending in degree by one
In addition, the first term will have y0, with each term ascendingin degree by one
Note: for every nth power, there will be n+1 terms
Ex: Expand the following binomial:
n = 4, so use the 4th rowin Pascal’s triangle
The first variable “a” will bedescending in power, starting with 4
The second variable “b” will beascending in power, starting with 0
